1991 Congressional Report on Short SellingIn 1991, the House Committee on Government Operations released a report on short selling. The House Report stated that the "effects of short selling on the securities markets are not widely understood," The House Report made numerous findings and recommendations, including that: "a pattern of abusive and destructive rumor mongering, targeted specifically at companies in the equity securities of which some short-selling investors have established major short positions, appear[ed] to be occurring;"www.sec.gov/rules/concept/34-42037.htmThis sounds familiar, tinyurl.com/nm3uamarketreform.proboards46.com/index.cgi?board=taser&action=display&thread=1137972623Dr. Byrne, Had the SEC addressed this issue, as directed by Congress in 1991, perhaps you would have been spared the necessity to file suit against the miscreants, www.shareholder.com/overstock/suit.cfmWould the 1991 Congress also approve of the classic manipulation scheme on TASR, 14 years after Congress identified the "rumor mongering" tactics employed by shorts? Good old media manipulation, SEC lapdog dispatch with all the dressings... tinyurl.com/ppdpxmarketreform.proboards46.com/index.cgi?board=taser&action=display&thread=1137960066This sounds all too familiar, and the fingerprints have been on file for decades. I suppose it's difficult for the SEC to make forward movement on minor details like this, while the revolving door is spinning at such a high rate...

Great post Kranker!
I didn't realize that Congress knew about this way back in 91'!
The corruption must run pretty deep throughout the system, for this to keep going on for all these years!
Slimeballs!!!

From October 05', Dave Patch appears on TV, tinyurl.com/8yyl8What does the SEC do? Other than allowing a known stock manipulator to take REFCO public, they simply buried their heads deeper in the sand.
